Our customers often requests “knife gates” when what they are really looking for is a “slide gate” for dry bulk material handling. These two types of gates are often confused with one another, but a knife gate and a slide gate are NOT the same. A knife gate valve is a component that uses a blade to cut through very thick liquids or hard clumps of clogged material. A slide gate valve is a component that utilizes a stainless steel, rectangular slide plate to shut
off or open the flow of dry material. The slide plate actuates between
two, compression-loaded, hard polymer plates. Knife Gates and Slide Gates are used in a wide variety of industries, including Food, Plastics & Petrochemical, Animal Feed, Energy, Mining & Minerals, and Chemical Industries.
Pneumatic & Manual Knife Gate Valves
The Pneumatic Knife Gate Valve is a heavy duty unit with cast body, knife gate, stuffing box with packing and oversized air cylinder or manual hand crank. These heavy duty units have an ASA 150 lbs bolt hole pattern.
Options include resilient seat for sealing against pressure or vacuum; solenoid valves and proximity sensors.
Sizes available: 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 24 inch.
