Silo Band Flexible Connectors (also known as Silo Seals or Bin Activator Flex Sleeves) are designed to create a seal between the Silo and Bin Activator to compensate for vibration. Carolina Material Technologies offers FDA approved White Nitrile or Black BUNA-N Flexible Connectors that connect the Silo and Bin Activator at the inlet and outlet of the system. We offer a range of standard sizes to suit various silo diameters and Bin Activators from various manufacturers. Silo bands are held in place by two high torque silo band clamps. Materials Available
Bulk Storage Silos are the perfect solution for storing powders (such as hydrated lime, activated carbon, soda ash, etc) and bulk solids (like grain, coal, cement, carbon black, woodchips, food products and sawdust). Large amounts of raw material have to be stored in a safe and efficient way for further proccessing. Carolina Material Technologies provides bin activator silo bands that are designed to maximize this process and ensure safe and efficient mass flow, while compensating for vibration. Our silo band flex connectors create a seal at the end of the silo between the bottom outlet and the bin activator, allowing for movement and vibration. We produce the highest quality silo bands in black or white food quality Nitrile (BUNA-N) Rubber or Pure Gum Rubber. Nitrile / BUNA-N is a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. It has excellent physical properties, and is highly resistant to water, petroleum products and fuels. Nitrile has a temperature range of -40° F to +220° F.
Sizes Available
The size of the Bin Activator is determined by various factors including - the size of the silo, the material characteristics and the discharge throughput desired. It can vary between 1/3 of the diameter of the silo (in cases of free flowing materials and powders) to the same diameter as the silo (for fibrous or flaky materials). The size of the Bin Activator determines the size of the silo band flexible connector.
