Diverter Valves
Diverter Valves for Pneumatic Conveying Applications
Carolina Material Technologies provides a full range of diverter valves.  Diverter valves are used to divert product flow from one inlet to multiple outlets.
These are applied to simple gravity applications (no pressure) and to high-pressure applications.  To avoid plugging, leakage and premature wear it is always critical to divert when product is not flowing through the valve.
Diverter Valves are ideal for handling dry bulk material in gravity flow, dilute phase or dense phase pneumatic conveying applications. The unique design of the Vortex Flex Tube Diverter eliminates material cross contamination through a positive seal across the closed port.

Plug Diverter Valves
Plug Diverters are heavy-duty alternatives to the flap type conveying diverter.

They have an internal plug that rotates 150 degrees to reroute product from one leg to the other. The round hole in the plug matches the round blow through ports, making for a very smooth transition.

The units work well on applications with large particles that may get caught in a flap type diverter, causing leakage to the dead leg.

As there is no rubber seal, the plug diverter is well suited to more abrasive products. A pneumatic rotary actuator is used to rotate the plug as standard, but can also be supplied with an electric actuator or hand crank.

The units come standard with spigots as specified by the customer: flanged, OD tube or nominal pipe.

Sizes available are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 inch.
Pneumatic Conveying Diverter Valve
The Pneumatic Conveying Diverter is used to reroute product from one conveying line to another.

The body is available in cast iron, cast aluminum or cast stainless steel. An internal flap plate is fabricated of mild steel or stainless steel, with a polyurethane rubber wiper seal. The parabolic shape provides a good seal without any gaps.

Operation is either by pneumatic air cylinder, electric linear actuator, manual lever arm or rotary type actuators.

The units come standard with ASA bolt hole pattern flanges or spigots as specified by the customer, either OD tube or nominal pipe.

Sizes available are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch.
Scale Diverter Valves
Scale or Weigh Diverter Valves are a flap-type diverter that reroutes products for filling hoppers or silos. With the flaps in the down position, the product bypasses the outlet.

When actuated, the flaps are lifted and the product is rerouted into the hopper. Displaced air in the hopper is carried away through the exhaust port.

These type diverters are ideal for conveying lines where multiple discharge points are required in series and are often used to fill hoppers that are being weighed – hence their name.

Units are available in Cast Iron, Cast Stainless Steel, and Cast Aluminum.

Typical operation is via a pneumatic air cylinder or electric actuator.
Gravity Diverter Valves
The Gravity Diverter is used to reroute product from one line to another in gravity flow applications.

The body is fabricated from mild steel or stainless steel. An internal flap plate is mild steel or stainless steel, with a rubber wiper seal.

For more abrasive applications, a bucket type diverter is used where an internal chute is moved back and forth to divert product flow.

Operation is either by pneumatic air cylinder, electric linear actuator, manual lever arm or rotary type actuators. Since these units are fabricated, practically any size or divert angle can be manufactured.

Units are available as 2-way (one inlet and two outlets) or 3-way (one inlet and three outlets). Typical divert angles are 30×30 and 0x30, but again – special angles can be made.

Flanges are round, square or even rectangular.
