Mechanical Augers and Mechanical Conveyors for Transferring Bulk Materials

Screw Conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Tubular Conveyors, Belt Conveyors, Drag Conveyors

CMT offers conveyor systems and equipment for the material transfer of bulk powders and solids, including Screw Conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Tubular Conveyors, Belt Conveyors, Drag Conveyors. Mechanical Conveying equipment is commonly used in industrial process systems for transferring product from one place to another. This usually involves the use of industrial-sized screws (also known as "screw augers"), buckets, tubes, discs, chains, belts, or a combination of these methods for material transfer.

There are a number of considerations to address when designing your conveyor system in order to achieve maximum efficiency and performance in each unique application. Identifying the type of industry, conveying application, capacity requirements, environmental constraints, and material flow characteristics are important factors to evaluate. Consult with one of our experts to determine the optimal mechanical conveyor for your specific application.

When handling bulk powders and other materials, the process engineering expert are a wide range of bulk and particulate properties that vary enormously. The obvious properties are particle size and size distribution, particle density and, perhaps, particle shape. However, there are many more properties that have an enormous effect on the “handleability” of the material. For example, bulk density, permeability, cohesive bulk strength, moisture content, electrostatic charging, and the list goes on. These properties will significantly influence the performance of mechanical handling equipment.
Screw Conveyors
Screw Conveyors (Augers) are mechanical conveying devices that implement a rotating helical screw blade called a "flighting", to convey a variety of powders, semi-liquids, and granular materials, ranging from sluggish to free-flowing.
Bucket Elevators
Bucket Elevators (Conveyors) are essentially vertical belt conveyors with buckets bolted on for material transfer from one process to the other. Bucket Elevators offer many of the desirable features associated with horizontal belt conveyors, with the added benefit of vertical conveying.
Tubular Conveyors
Tubular Conveyors use a combination of chains, cables, or discs within a fully enclosed tube for material transfer of bulk powders and solids. We offer two different types of Tubular Conveyors: Aeromechanical Conveyors (AMC), and Tubular Drag-Chain Conveyors
Belt Conveyors
Belt Conveyors provide a cost-effective solution for conveying powders, solids, and finished goods over long distances. The simplistic design of belt conveyors provides a convenient solution for transportation requirements in process plants around the globe.
Drag Conveyors
Drag Conveyors feature evenly spaced flights mounted on a continuous chain that moves along the drive and tail sprocket. Bulk materials are pulled gently and smoothly through drag conveyors. Material rides on itself “en masse” (in one solid mass) with no internal turbulence, tumbling or agitation. This makes drag conveyors ideally suited for a variety of materials, particularly delicate ones. Particle degradation and separation are drastically reduced.
